The Lellogram
This is my Substack that I'm going to start quietly and hope to grow readers as my confidence grows too.
Why here, why now?
My name is Leslie, close friends call me Lel. I have loads of stuff I would love to share with you – hence the birth of the Lellogram. I have wanted to write a blog ever since I realised that a blog was really an online diary. As a fiercely committed diary (not journal!) writer since I was ten who made her dreams come true by becoming a magazine agony aunt and then Editor of youth mags: I am now in midlife and childfree. So what’s the link? I am still the same me, at a different stage of life. I want to throw out there issues to chew the fat over. Will you join me?
Why this, why now
Why this format? I seriously missed the boat on blogging through various platforms that have come and gone. All my favourite writers have migrated over to Substack. I love the concept (actually getting paid for words not on a mainstream outlet) but also struggle about the idea to charge as I given I am currently on such a limited budget I get frustrated by paywalls. This is perhaps a good compromise?
Come and chat and share your views
This space is totally open to all views and I hope for interaction. I am hoping that my fellow Gen Xers (but not this is not exclusively for you!) will find many areas that resonate with them. I hope to show the community I want to grow that you don’t always have to be be up on the latest trends to enjoy culture (both high and low) but also that it’s fun to know. Food is going to so feature so I hope to capture a slightly different audience there too.
Here’s hoping…
At the moment, I am planning to write two newsletters a month. These will be free. I would love for my scribblings to become a revenue stream. However, in my view, that only works if there’s a real goodie/money can’t buy to bag. I need to work out what that’ll be. Probably food oriented!
All suggestions welcome but we’ll start with
I will cover all sorts of stuff on this blog from think pieces, music, books, movement, films, TV, podcasts, travel, laughs, friendship tips, relationship reckonings and loads more.
